ABOUT RECORDING "TITLES" "Barclay James Harvest" were/are a fantastic British band with recordings stretching from the 60's to the 90's. To me BJH seemed a little bit "Moody Blues" and quite a lot "Pink Floyd". I will never forget the first time I heard the haunting "Titles" a single for BJH in 1975-76. The lyrics comprised of Beatle song titles. I seem to also recall a video clip? Must have been an early one. I went out and bought the album "TIME HONOURED GHOSTS", The track "Titles" was on this. That album became one of my favourites over that decade and beyond, I still have it and the minute I put it on I am transported instantly back to those halcyon days. Performance rights prevent the original being posted here which is a shame, I would love to have done that. "Then.....into the 90's while thinking of material to record for an album I was doing, I remembered "Titles" and began re-arranging it with a slow dance feel. I spent many hours on it because I knew I had to at least capture some of that 'haunting" feel, plus get that "expansive" sound. I have always been a Beatle fan, so I felt an affinity both ways." The original was: Big, slower than mine, very well executed-superb vocals, and something the Beatles themselves surely would have approved of. My version grooves a little, has a key change half way through and an acoustic guitar solo added. Near the end I have also taken the liberty of adding a "taste" of the "Come Together" riff. BJH were one of the great classic English bands of their time. Larry Killip email
